Living with Intention

A couple months ago I was in a healing session, and the biggest piece of advice I was given was “start living your everyday life with intention.” I’ve been thinking about this sentence pretty much everyday since. Sometimes I actually follow through, sometimes it’s like this sentence is coming from a nagging girlfriend in the back of my mind. 

I’m in a special place in my life right now that I do have free time. I work in the evenings and naturally wake up pretty early so I have all morning and early afternoon to myself. But I’m also starting a business-how do I allow myself to rest while staying on task? This is something I’ve been working on and this constant battle in my mind so I thought I’d share. 

Each day, I try to wake up and not only think about but, “feel” how I want my day to go. I do the normal morning stuff-make coffee, teach sometimes, walk my dog. Then I feel into what I want to do next. Do I want to paint-do I want to work on my business-do I want to write-to read, to freaking lay on the couch and watch tv, or open a beer and head to the beach with friends? But I really feel it-what will best serve me? Is it better to be productive or give my body and mind some rest from working the night before. 

Anyway this is something I’ve been working on so I thought I’d share. Live each day with intention, no matter what you’re typical day looks like. This could even be what do you want to listen to on your way to work? Or what breakfast will serve my body best today? Follow that feeling-follow your gut, truly listen to your intuition and live each day with intention.
